My love for nature started young — my parents always had gardens full of veggies, flowers, and herbs — but somewhere along the way, my “little home garden” turned into a full-blown passion (okay fine, obsession). That passion took my daughter, Kaliah, and me on an incredible journey across the U.S., where we lived, learned, and got our hands dirty in intentional communities. We built cob houses, learned natural building, tended animals, grew food in the Arizona desert, and found out that real education often happens outside the classroom — preferably with dirt under your nails.
From there, I went on to earn multiple certifications in permaculture, regenerative soil, holistic health, nutrition, and medicinal herbs and mushrooms — all while continuing to build and restore land. What started as barren ground has, over time, turned into lush, living ecosystems filled with food, medicine, and life.
Now here in Clayton, NC, Kindred Acres is my home and heart — a living classroom built on regenerative practices, holistic wellness, and community connection. I’m passionate about helping others learn to grow food, create balance, and reconnect with the earth (and themselves) in the process. Through our Homesteaders Co-Op, classes, consultation services, plant sales, blog, and workshops, I get to share the knowledge and joy I’ve gathered along the way.
When I’m not elbows-deep in compost or teaching a class, you’ll probably find me cooking something from the garden, chasing our goofy dogs Raven and Sullivan, or laughing at something ridiculous with my family. I believe in living with gratitude, laughing often, loving hard, and doing work that leaves both people and the planet a little better than we found them.
Grow food. Grow roots. Grow love.
