Welcome to Kindred Acres Homestead, a small, veteran-owned sanctuary nestled on 3.5 beautiful acres in Clayton, NC, just outside of Raleigh. Our mission is to live in harmony with nature while teaching and implementing regenerative gardening, food forestry, and holistic wellness practices. We are proud to be a state-certified garden nursery, a Certified Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation, a Certified Pollinator Pathway, and Certified Naturally Grown (CNG).
At Kindred Acres, we’ve planted thousands of edible trees, bushes, and plants to include hundreds of herbs, flowers, and native plants, all forming the foundation of our evolving permaculture-based food forest. Our commitment to regenerative and sustainable practices shines through our no-till gardening, the use of biologically complete compost, natural materials collected from and returned to the land, and methods like chop-and-drop mulching. We avoid herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and synthetic fertilizers, instead focusing on soil health and nurturing the ecosystems beneath our feet. Our land includes medicinal apothecary gardens, tea gardens, wildflower for pollinators, a cottage garden surrounding our nut orchard, and annual edible gardens for sustenance. We’ve also worked to regenerate erosion areas and to create a sanctuary not only for us but for the wildlife we share it with. Visitors might spot deer, foxes, coyotes, beavers, and abundance of birds, and abundance of pollinators and other insects, along with our cherished pet chickens . As a proud agritourism site, we offer scheduled tours to share the beauty of Kindred Acres and the knowledge behind our practices. We also host classes, workshops, and events to inspire others to connect with the land and build their own regenerative spaces.
Our services include consultations, garden and permaculture design, food forest installations, and subscriptions to our Plant of the Month Club. Our online shop offers seeds, plants, handcrafted soaps, and more to support your gardening and wellness journey. At Kindred Acres, we believe in holistic healing through nature, disease prevention through food, and honoring the sacred connection between people, plants, and the earth. We are continually growing, both personally and spiritually, and invite you to grow with us. Together, we can create thriving spaces—whether it’s a simple patio garden, a homestead, an elaborate food forest—that honor nature and nourish the soul, or a full on farm.
