Tom - Farm Hands, Berm Builder & Barefoot Wonderer.
If you've ever visited Kindred Acres and spotted someone happily hauling logs, building berms, wrestling poison ivy, or wandering around barefoot looking for his shoes....you've probably met Tom.
Tom's journey with Kindred Acres began as a student in our Intro to Permaculture course. Once class led to another, and before long he had completed our Permaculture Design Certification (PDC) course, composting classes, and somehow became part of the family. These days, we couldn't imagine the homestead without him.
He's the kind of person who genuinely loves learning and isn't afraid to get dirty doing it. Over the years he's developed an impressive eye for plant identification, a deep appreciation for healthy ecosystems, and a passion for caring for natural world.
Around the homestead, Tom is our unofficial Poison Ivy King. Most people run from it...Tom politely introduces himself and starts pulling. (We're still trying to figure out if he has superpowers.)
Whether he's felling trees, building berms, repairing equipment, hauling mulch, lending a hand wherever it's needed, or disappearing because he's once again misplaced his shoes, Tom tackles every project with a smile, an incredible work ethic, and an upbeat attitude that's contagious.
He's proof that permaculture isn't just something you learn - it's something you live.
Just don't ask him where his shoes are.
